  • Oppose per WP:COMMONNAME. There are no results for either name in Ngrams [1], but there are more results in Google Scholar for "Atacora Department" (385) [2] than "Atakora Department" (69) [3].
To provide some additional context, the name of the department may have been changed.[4] In 2015, the name of the department in ISO 3166-2:BJ [5] was changed from "Atakora" to "Atacora".[6] ("Kouffo Department" was also changed to Couffo Department.) This remains the official name.[7] I'd guess this change is because the letter "k" is relatively rare in French.[8] Malerisch (talk) 04:00, 8 December 2025 (UTC)[reply]
