Here's a piece about the history of JCW I wrote for the Signpost. Headbomb 06:14, 1 August 2023 (UTC)
That's a very interesting read.GobsPint (talk) 02:48, 23 April 2024 (UTC)The State Journal disambiguation
[edit]Hello @Headbomb: I hope you are well 🙂 If you have a minute, could you fix the target on Wikipedia:WikiProject Academic Journals/Journals cited by Wikipedia/S58 from "The State Journal," which is now a disambiguation link, to The State Journal (West Virginia), which is what the article cited is referring to? I don't know how to fix this myself. Cheers! Johnson524 16:09, 3 January 2024 (UTC)
This is a bot-compiled list of whatever's in|journal=. What's important is that The State Journal dab mentions The State Journal (West Virginia), and that the article points to the correct journal. Both do. Headbomb 19:50, 3 January 2024 (UTC)
@Headbomb: Just making sure it's not a mistake, cheers! (Oh, and btw, that signpost article you linked above was a really interesting read, thanks for sharing it 🙂) Johnson524 21:57, 3 January 2024 (UTC)
Journals that seemingly exist, but don't (JCW)
[edit]- Islamic Studies (journal) (325 in 281)
- Environmental Conservation (journal) (170 in 155)
- Women's Studies (journal) (160 in 139)
- Waste Management (journal) (153 in 116)
- Food Microbiology (journal) (89 in 73)
- Biophysical Chemistry (journal) (76 in 61)
- PaleoAnthropology (journal) (76 in 47)
- Environmental Geology (journal) (73 in 70)
- Marine Engineering (journal) (47 in 39)
- Video Games (journal) (46 in 44)
- Religious Education (journal) (35 in 32)
- BioResources (journal) (34 in 32)
- Printed Matter (journal) (31 in 6)
- THE Journal (journal) (29 in 21)
- Continuing Medical Education (journal) (25 in 25)
- Radiation Oncology (journal) (25 in 21)
- Climate Change (journal) (24 in 21)
- Chemical Engineering (journal) (24 in 20)
- Mental Retardation (journal) (22 in 20)
- Systems Engineering (journal) (18 in 12)
The above journals differ from regular articles only by capitalization, e.g. Islamic Studies redirects to Islamic studies, making it look like we have a journal called Islamic Studies in WP:JCW, when in reality we don't. I just created the Women's Studies article, but it would be nice to have help for the others. Headbomb 14:02, 14 April 2025 (UTC)
4M citations
[edit]We hit that bar in June. Headbomb 21:10, 3 September 2025 (UTC)
How does this work?
[edit]There's a cite } (actually a dead link) which is picked up as having a publisher of University College London (UC London) on Wikipedia:WikiProject Academic Journals/Journals cited by Wikipedia/Publisher14. All the best: Rich Farmbrough 17:49, 3 January 2026 (UTC).
London 24 is a close match of UCLondon (and others). To exclude the match, go to WP:JCW/EXCLUDE and use
{{JCW-exclude|UC London|London 24}}
which excludes that specific match, or
{{JCW-exclude|University College London|London 24}}
which excludes it from anything related to Wikipedia:WikiProject Academic Journals/Journals cited by Wikipedia/Publisher14#University College London. Headbomb 18:41, 3 January 2026 (UTC)
