Adolpho Veloso (born 31 May 1989) is a Brazilian cinematographer. He is known for his work on Train Dreams (2025), for which he became the first Brazilian nominated for the BAFTA and the Academy Award for Best Cinematography.[1][2][3][4]
For the film, he won the Critics Choice Award[5] and received a nomination from the American Society of Cinematographers.[6]
Early life
[edit]Veloso was born in São Paulo, Brazil, and developed an interest in filmmaking from a young age.[7][8] He studied film at Fundação Armando Alvares Penteado.[8]
Since 2025, he resides in Portugal.[9]
Style
[edit]His work has been described as minimalist and observational,[10] reflecting influences from American cinematographers like Gordon Willis.[9]
