This wording is a mess. Could honestly be even less wordy but that is up to the editors discretion. CHANGE: "On his 22nd birthday, DeJean recorded his first career interception in the second quarter of Super Bowl LIX off quarterback Patrick Mahomes, and returned it for a 38-yard touchdown, as the Eagles defeated the Kansas City Chiefs 40–22 and capture the Super Bowl championship.[28] DeJean became the first player since fellow Eagle Steve Van Buren in 1947 to score a touchdown in a championship game on his birthday."

It is good to see that DeJean’s Super Bowl touchdown has made it into the lead. Can some registered user please deftly add that the touchdown was significant for being the first score of the game (that dramatically began the Eagles’ rout).
