Samuel Chatto (born 28 July 1996)[2] is a British ceramic artist and relative of the British royal family. Born in London to Lady Sarah Chatto and Daniel Chatto, both of whom are artists,[3] he is a grandson of Princess Margaret, Countess of Snowdon and a grand-nephew of Elizabeth II. As of November 2025[update], he is 30th in line to the British throne.[4] He also has a younger brother, Arthur, with whom he attended Eton College.[3]

Chatto studied at the University of Edinburgh, and graduated in 2018 with a degree in art history.[5] From 2019 to 2020, he attended the Royal Drawing School.[6] He became interested in pottery, and completed a six week apprenticeship at North Shore Pottery in Caithness. Chatto has a home studio, and has sold his creations on his own website.[7] Chatto has spent time in Japan to learn pottery techniques.[1][3] His work has been displayed in various places, including a restaurant in Somerset and art galleries in Norway and Japan.[7][8] In 2019, Chatto spent six weeks in India to complete 200 hours of training to become a yoga instructor.[5][9]

Chatto does not have any official royal duties, but has attended several events such as the state funeral of Elizabeth II,[10] the coronation of Charles III and Camilla, and the wedding of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle.[1][7][11] Chatto attended a banquet during a state visit by Japanese Emperor Naruhito to the United Kingdom in 2024.[12][13] By January 2025, he was dating Eleanor Ekserdjian, an artist who also studied at the University of Edinburgh and appeared in London Fashion Week.[14][15]
