Chrono24

[edit]

Chrono24 was founded in 2003, and Tim Stracke took over the platform in 2010 together with Dirk Schwartz and Michael Krkoska, subsequently managing the company's operations for many years.[1] In the early phase after the takeover, the team focused on internationalization and expanding the marketplace model, acquiring Australian competitor WatchChoice in 2010 as a step toward strengthening its presence in English-speaking markets and Asia.[6][7]

Stracke initially led Chrono24 as CEO and later as co-CEO. from 2016, Holger Felgner joined Stracke as co-CEO.[1]

Under Stracke's leadership, in addition to scaling the marketplace, product-side trust and safety mechanisms and tools were expanded, including an escrow model for securing payments and the Chrono24 Watch Scanner, which can provide a model/reference and market price estimate based on a photo.[citation needed]

On January 1, 2024, Carsten Keller took over the role of CEO. Stracke and Felgner relinquished operational management, remained shareholders, and took on board-level responsibilities (Stracke as Chairman).[1] Stracke handed over the chairmanship to Tobias Hartmann on June 1, 2025, and remained a member of the board.[citation needed]
